Edinbrick 2022 FAQ

The Edinbrick 2022 FAQ

With the first Brick M8 Event of the year – Edinbrick on SATURDAY 14th May! We thought you might have some questions. Using our amazing LEGO based powers we have put together some answers to questions of our own creation! If your question isn’t here please get in touch with us to ask! Here we go!

Q : What is Edinbrick?
A : Edinbrick is Edinburgh’s own Not for Profit Charity Fund Raising LEGO Display show. This is our second year in having a show.
Q: Is that the LEGO show that keeps selling out?
A : Yup that’s us. 2017 was crazy (If you know, you know), 2018 was busy sold out on line, 2019 also sold out online – <2 year break> – 2022 sold out as well!.
Q : When and where is Edinbrick 2022?
A : Saturday 14th May 10.30am-4pm (last entry 3:30pm) Potterrow Dome, Edinburgh University Students Association, 1 Bristo Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9AL
Q : Is there a map?
A : Yes there is attached to this post
Q : What about Parking?
A : There is on street pay and display parking in nearby streets, but not a lot. We’d recommend public transport if possible. Bus information can be found on www.LothianBuses.com
Q : Can I still get tickets?
A : Sorry we’ve sold out! Crazy! We won’t be selling tickets on the door nor will we sell any more tickets online. So unless you have a time machine, sorry we can’t help you this year (but next year we hope to have a bigger capacity).
Q: Will we have to wear a mask at the show?
A: As a fully indoor show we strongly recommend following the current Scottish Government advice which is to wear a mask at large indoor events. Certainly many of the displayers and volunteers will be wearing masks.
Q: What should I do if I have covid-19 symptoms.
A: Please do not travel to the show if you have symptoms unless you have tested negative with a lateral flow on the day of the show. If you are unable to attend due to Covid-19 please get in touch with us to see about a refund of your tickets.
Q : Do we need to print off our tickets?
A : No need to print off tickets (however you are welcome to if you want to) – showing your tickets on your phone will do!
Q : What time should we arrive?
A : Please don’t arrive before your ticket time if at all possible. We have a LOT of people to get through the display over the day and we have timed tickets to try and minimise queuing as much as possible.
Q: What happens if we are running late?
A: First of all don’t panic if you are running late – there is no need to tell us or the venue. You will get in but might need to queue a bit if we have to process lots of others arriving. As long as you make it before 3:30pm you’ll be fine. However we are stopping at 4pm.
Q: Will we have to queue to get in?
A: We have taken steps to reduce queue times as much as possible, but there will be a bit of processing time with Ticket checking etc. If the weather isn’t great we suggest dressing accordingly in case the queue has to extend a little outside.
Q : What can we expect at the show?
A : LEGO displays, big and small from master builders all over Scotland and beyond. If you have a LEGO question, these are the people to ask!
• Minfig hunt, can you find all the minifigs from your chosen theme? They will be hidden throughout the displays so keep your eyes peeled (We hope to have a token prize for those taking part).
• Tombola. Everyone is a winner! Every prize is either LEGO or LEGO themed, up to and including boxed sets – it will be £3 per entry cash or card accepted.
Q : Will you be able to buy LEGO at the event?
A : YES. We’ve arranged with some private sellers to bring LEGO to sell at the show. These will mostly be retired sets not easily found in stores. Some of them will be rare sets and priced accordingly.
There will also be other LEGO themed items from our friends Toysrart.
And don’t forget you can win LEGO Sets in the “Everyone is a winner” Tombola.
Q : What about the buildzone this year?
A : We decided that in our first year back and during the Pandemic we would skip a buildzone this year. We fully expect to have them return in future shows. To make up for this we’ve invited more displayers.
Q : How long will it take to go round the show?
A : Approx. between 45mins to 1 1/4 hours. Depends on how much you want to see. We won’t be kicking anyone out after 1 1/4 hours but we certainly don’t expect everyone to stay the whole day.
Q : Can we take pictures ?
A : You are most welcome to take pictures of the LEGO displays and feel free to share them on social media. If you want to you can also Tag Edinbrick in them.
Q : Can we touch the displays ?
A : Unfortunately we don’t allow the displays to be touched.
Q : Can we bring our own LEGO creations to show you?
A : Please DO NOT bring your own LEGO creations. We wouldn’t want your LEGO to get mixed up with the displayers bricks. But if you want to bring pictures of your own models we are sure the master builders would like to see one or two.
Q : Is it all for charity?
A : Yup! Your ticket money pays for venue rental and direct expenses. But ALL the remaining money raised goes to Fairy Bricks , we don’t make a penny and nor do the master builders who come to display, so you will be helping brighten the lives of sick children by coming along.
Q : Is there food and drink?
A : Please do not bring food and drink into the display space. There is no on-site food or drink open this year. However there are a number of shops, cafe and takeaway locations nearby for either before or after you’ve been to the show.
Q : Can you come without children?
A : Yes! The room will have lots of AFOLs (adult fans of LEGO) so LEGO fans of all ages will be more than welcome.
• We should point out that under 14s are to be accompanied by an adult.
Q: Is the venue disability friendly?
A: All areas of the Display Space are accessible and the venue is wheelchair friendly.
Q : Anything else to know?
A : The day will be busy. We sold out of our initial capacity within two weeks of going on sale and we have managed to squeeze in a bit more capacity but it will be busy.
• This is only our fourth show and everyone on the team is a volunteer, so please remember that if there are any issues we will be doing our very best to solve them.
Covid-19 has not gone away and many of our Displayers and Volunteers will be masked. We strongly encourage use of masks amongst guests and ask you to consider social distancing as much as possible.
