2019 Summary

With the year coming to a close we thought it would be a good time for the Brick M8 team to look back at 2019.  The first thing we have to say is its been our busiest year yet!   With Braw Bricks finding its place on the calendar in January it has been our first year with 3 full Brick M8 Lego events in the year.  Braw Brick was much busier than we ever expected, Edinbrick sold out of online tickets a month before the event and Glesga Bricks doubled its attendance from 2018.  Between the 3 events we welcomed almost 3000 Lego fans through the doors and raised £6336 for Fairy Bricks!

We haven’t just been busy with our own events, 2019 has seen us branch out.  Our traditional weekend displaying at Edinburgh Comic Con was fun as always and we are looking forward to next years already.  We had our first foray into displaying outdoors at Boness Revival and despite some very, very challenging weather on the Saturday we survived to had a great time on the Sunday.

We teamed up with Fairy Bricks, rounded up some local AFOLS and joined Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity for a stay and play day at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.  Lots of Lego sets were given out and everyone had a great day spending time building and chatting to the young patients and parents.  We weren’t finished working with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity however, we joined in the Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail Farewell Weekend at the SEC.  Despite Glesga Bricks running the same weekend (typical) we had our own mini Lego Oor Wullie bucket hunt display that went down a storm.  We rounded off the year by popping along to Wishaw General Hospital on behalf of Fairy Bricks to hand over a large Lego donation as part of #buildtogive.  Don’t worry, the Fairy Bricks boys covered the rest of Scotland’s children’s wards so nobody was left out!

What will 2020 hold for us?  For a start we are keen to build on the amount raised in 2019 via our 3 events.  Braw Bricks 2020 is being held on the 25 January in Cumbernauld, Edinbrick 2020 will be back on the 16th May and Glesga Bricks 2020 will return in September and we always look to improve and develop each event from the previous year.  Join us for one, two or all 3 events and help us smash that total!  We will be back at Edinburgh Comic Con and hopefully will be involved with more fun events and charity work using the power of Lego!
